Conference success will always be a roll of the dice, especially in Las Vegas (do you like what I did there?). The noise, the crowds, the jam-packed agenda, and competition with the buffet tables, means that attendees – your target audience – have limited bandwidth to learn about new solutions. At Stampli, we’ve cracked the code on how to ensure a successful outcome. Below are the lessons we learned from our latest conference, Intacct Advantage 2017.
STEP 1: Have an Amazing Product and Be Proud of It
At Stampli, we have no problem with this one! Hearing direct feedback like, “This is awesome!,” “I need this yesterday,” and “WOW, this makes so much sense!!” is a wonderful reward for the hard work. Excitement is contagious and when you have a cool, innovative solution that makes people happy, success will follow.
In this photo, Lisa is showing a brief product demo to some interested conference attendees. This is where the “wow” factor comes in. The opportunity to see product itself, on the spot, really helped people understand how it could apply to their situation. This educated interest made it easier to arrange future appointments.
STEP 2: Put Your Best Foot Forward
You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression. When you’ve got 10 x 10 feet to communicate your message, every inch counts. Whether your booth is turnkey or DIY, keep your graphics clean and simple. And when it comes to digital displays; size matters! Making your key benefits pop visually attracts people who are looking for your solution. Coordinated coloring and an open space make your booth look inviting and professional.
STEP 3: Don’t Be Afraid to Say Hi
Conference sponsorship costs your company thousands of dollars. Make sure you’re maximizing ROI potential by putting away your phone and proactively engaging with prospects. Remember; these people are looking for a solution to a problem. You could be that solution, but neither of you will ever know it if a conversation doesn’t begin. A smile and a question is usually all you need to get the ball rolling.
STEP 4: Get Swaggy
Give those swag collectors something to talk about! Having a couple different items – one for visitors and one for people who act on your offer – may be just the ticket to get a commitment to further engagement. Keep your audience in mind and provide them with something different and useful. Branded pens and chapstick may be handy for office folks, but they won’t help you stand out among a sea of identical offerings. Choose an appealing graphic that makes people smile, instead of simply pasting your logo on the product. Our Billy the Bot sports bags were a hit!
We found great success using the above strategy to make the most of our presence at Intacct Advantage. With a great product to show, and the right people to show it to, booth traffic was steady and our sales team was kept busy! Hundreds of people saw our product demo during the Expo, and nearly half of them registered for further one-on-one sessions. All in all, it was a huge success and we’re looking forward to next year!
